Wolcott Hotel in the downtown area?

Decent place? Bad? Awesome? Me and my husband are possibly going on a cruise that leaves New York, so we realized why not travel around New York for a few days earlier. We're just the kind of 'hm … that looks interesting "phase now, but Wolcott seems to be getting good reviews everywhere I look. If you do not like the Wolcott, guys, do you mind a track or two here or there where-to-stay which is $ 300 per night? ($ 200 or less, is one of principle for us) We're not really worried about the area of New York City who just want to be somewhere used to tourists and has lost enough people out of the walls with .44 Magnum. ^ ^ 'Native-I'm not really trying to say, but I grew up near a larger city, so I know that some areas are decent and some would not survive Rambo happening. As for areas to be avoided in Manhattan is very safe, with respect to the other municipalities, unless you decide to travel to deepen in the municipalities, most places in Manhattan that borders are fine (I can not include here the Bronx, because I've never lived there).
